Beginning of December 2016 AA Labels in Peterborough (UK) installed a matrix removal system for three self-adhesive machines. The system captures the self-adhesive matrix and the edge trims, cuts it into small pieces with an inline cutting unit (Cuttopipe family) and conveys it via a transportation fan to a double Big Bag station (Cuttobag CB-1000.2). The matrix widths prior to cutting are 220mm-530mm at 150m/min machine speed.
The main elements of the extraction system (pipe system and transportation fan) are already designed to handle the matrix waste from a fourth machine in the future. The customer just needs to extend the system with a new cutting module (EM-Module) to connect the additional machine to the waste extraction system.
As the customer runs a lot of film material, two anti-static-systems were installed inside the material separators to avoid blockages inside the unit. To recover the heated or cooled air, an air-return-system was also installed by the Matho technicians. According to Mr. Sohail Sethi (Managing Director at AA Labels) they are very happy about the project planning and installation, as well as the operating results of the complete system. Additionally as the matrix cutter and ducting network elevated off the ground, there is more floor space in the plant available.
